I joined Concentra in April 1998 as a product consultant / Visual Basic programmer. Concentra were an American company that developed a product configuration software package called SellingPoint™. My role was an solution implementor for customers. This involved developing often complex models of customer products using the SellingPoint™ technology and developing custom user interfaces in Microsoft Visual Basic to the product models.

In January 1999 Concentra was acquired by Oracle Corporation and the process if integrating the SellingPoint™ technology into the Oracle Applications suite began. My role within Oracle became that of a specialist technical / functional consultant (a rare hybrid within Oracle!) and the programming aspect shifted languages from VB to Java as the product became more tightly integrated to Oracle Applications and web technology.
